Cinnamon Toast - Unemployed Sunday

“Willie is gone, and not only that, he ain’t here.” Si - Duck Dynasty

If you haven’t watched Duck Dynasty, you should. This morning, I woke immediately feeling stressed about my Sunday. Will I make it to the gym, get those packages mailed, do yoga, write that letter, go to the grocery, (shower), in a timely fashion and be ready for a crazy day of work tomorrow? Then I remembered, I was let go on Friday. Another wave of emotion set in, I think maybe it was “stunned”. I took a deep breath, determined not to let myself crumble and turned on the TV. Duck Dynasty was on, thank you A&E.

I walked into the living room to find my husband watching it, while STRONGLY requesting I make Cinnamon Toast. This is where I admit, I had to look up a recipe. I used the Pioneer Women Approach #4. My thinking was that my husband would be amazed with my culinary skills when he tasted that extra touch of flavor (Vanilla Extract). But when he began mixing his Nestle Chocolate into his milk, I realized that was a lost cause. He did enjoy the toast, but it crumbled so I don’t have pictures. Obviously this was easy to make GF (just substitute bread, Vanilla Extract and butter).

GF Cap City is thrilled to be back, and thrilled to have time to make this quality, however, given our new unemployed status, we might be baking more than dining…unless it’s on you…

Hurricane Party!

Well, maybe.

Above is the Smith-County Watermelon Vodka cocktail that I was so happily sipping on in the midst of Hurricane Isaac. Thank you for the inspiration, Local 463

With Hurricane Sandy approaching the East Coast, are we in for a GF hurricane party? Am I in for two in one year (yeowzers)? Halloween has arrived (pretty much) and Thanksgiving is fast approaching. Accordingly, we must continue with the Pumpkin theme. How about a Pumpkin flavored Hot Toddy (recipe for a Hot Toddy here) with whip cream on top, a dash of caramel, and garnished with a piece of Candy Corn? Sorry I don’t have a picture, just made that up in my little pea-sized, completely delirious brain while obviously still stranded in the airport. I see planes to my right that aren’t being used…

Sounds yummy though.

Hump Day Heehaw Bust.

My BFF and I have been stranded in the airport for four hours now. Our gate has changed twice, and we just received the dreaded “delayed” text (again). At midnight, we will supposedly be soaring into the sky to get home after an exhausting day of travel.

Therefore, not only are the Hump Day Heehaws over due, they also just got deleted. Seriously. I spent an hour typing and editing (so forgive the typos) only to exit before saving.

Do I get to do this yet:

The post was witty and travel inspired, right down to the red, ruby “decorative slippers” my mom bought me when I left for college and how weird it is when strangers divulge their life stories to each other — and always in airports. Why airports?

There was this recipe for a Bourbon Pumpkin Milkshake and this link for GF graham crackers. There would have been a blurb about these Pumpkin Muffins with advice to use GF all purpose flour (Bob’s Red Mill is crumble-free). But now all you will get is the following pouty face:

The next post will be about our Saturday brunch at Cava on 8th St. It’s a tapas restaurant with many GF items to pick from, including the Crazy Feta. Much better than pre-made airport salads (gross).

For all of you wanna-be robbers out there, we have an alarm that is set and live on a well patrolled street. So, booyah. By 2:30 we will be home and by 3 this will be me:

Goodnight.
